Career background

I started out working in finance for Bank of Scotland in the Motor division. After two and a half years I left to join Lombard, based just outside Southampton, where I stayed for 18 years. I spent a short amount of time with Close Brother’s Transport Division, before working as a Broker for a company based in Bournemouth. Upon leaving the brokerage I worked at Simply for a few months, before joining Paragon in August 2019.

What you enjoy most about the role

Going out meeting brokers, discussing opportunities with them and further building a good working relationship.

Standout deal

Due to when I joined, most of my deals have been CBILS related. I did re-finance a Printing Press for a customer, circa £570k, which I had funded originally whilst working at Lombard.

Claire Hildersley

Career background

I have spent many years in the industry. My financial career started at First National Bank, followed by Siemens Financial Services and then I spent 16 years at Lombard.

What you enjoy most about the role

I enjoy working with my team. Everyone is very supportive and there is a wealth of knowledge and experience - and of course I love the relationships I have with my brokers. Usually communication would be with regular face to face meetings, although understandably in 2020 and going into the start of 2021 there is very little of that.

Standout deal

I enjoy helping with solutions for customers, for example I am currently working on a tricky underwrite on a large bit of kit, I am bringing in Paragon Invoice Finance to look at their factoring which will offer Paragon more security - it’s a clever way of getting a deal over the line.

Career background

I have worked at Paragon for 3 years within the broker arena, helping support a wide range of funding requirements for SME’s. This included government backed facilities such as BBLS, CBILS & RLS.

I was also involved in testing our new portal system that launched in late 2021.

What you enjoy most about the role

My favourite three things about my role are gaining an understanding into different asset types across various sectors and understanding their re-sale value, creating good relationships with internal and external colleagues and the satisfaction of providing funding of revenue generating assets to SME’s to help them thrive.

Standout deal

In H1 of 2022 I supported a Customer in funding a new Haylage/Straw Re-packaging System at £250k (including a VAT Deferral) to increase productivity and help with cost savings.

Ollie Shrubsall

Ollie Shrubsall

Career background

I’m joining Paragon from White Oak, where I was a Business Development Manager and gained valuable experience as a broker. Prior to that I worked at Bibby Leasing Limited as a broker manager, I’ve also held positions in direct sales at Close Brothers and Renaissance Asset Finance. Since entering the industry, I have worked extensively with leading businesses and has gained invaluable experience and understanding of brokers’ needs and day-to-day client facing activities.

What you enjoy most about the role

I enjoy working with introducers across London and the Southeast as these are strong regions for SME’s within the UK. We receive a range of deals within various sectors which helps to keep the role interesting. Helping to secure funding for businesses and enabling them to achieve their growth ambitions is the most satisfying part of my role.

I’ve had a £310k deal for 4 Doosan excavators for a growing plant hire business in the South East.

Grant Lewis

Career background

I’m joining Paragon from Walbrook Asset Finance Ltd, where I was a Broker Manager, prior to that I worked at Bank of London and The Middle East where I managed a portfolio of leasing connections. I’ve also held various roles at The Co-operative Bank PLC.

What you enjoy most about the role

I enjoy going out and meeting people and am looking forward to building on existing Broker relationships as well as forge new ones to support SME businesses.

Standout deal

I’ve had a £1.25m credit line approved, which has already seen some utilisation of circa £760k for a Plant Hire Company based in the North West.

In addition I’ve had £175k agreed and paid out for 4 Mercedes Vito’s (3 were Electric), for a North West Mercedes dealership to be used internally for parts delivery/collection, repairs, etc.

Career background

My financial career started at NatWest as a Customer Advisor, followed by 10 years at RBS doing various roles including Private Banking Manager, Business Specialist followed by 4 years at Lombard as a Relationship manager which is where my Asset Finance journey started. I then went onto worked for Simply Asset Finance followed by Dawson Group for a couple of years. I joined Paragon in March 2022.

What you enjoy most about the role

I enjoy working with my team. Everyone is very supportive and there is a lot of experience within the team. I love going out and meeting brokers and looking at ways to improve and build on these relationships. I enjoy the element of driving business through building strong relationships based on a genuine interest in serving customers.

Standout deal

I enjoy finding solutions for customers, for example I had a refinance agreement approved for £200k, which will save the customer 20k over a 48 month term.

Carole Luck

Carole Luck

Career background

My career in finance started at Barclays Bank where I spent nearly 20 years, before moving onto Close Brothers Business Finance. I’ve joined Paragon from Haydock Finance, where I was a Regional Broker Manager.

I will be responsible for managing the Southwest region. The experience I have gathered in my career is a valuable advantage to the team, as Paragon seeks to build stronger relationships and more opportunities with its broker network.

What you enjoy most about the role

I enjoy working with the brokers and helping them to help their customers. I like to help wherever I can to get transactions over the line, particularly the more challenging ones. It is also great to work within the friendly and supportive team at Paragon.
