Paragon Banking Group’s ‘The Peaky Climbers’ took on the National Three Peaks Challenge this weekend, completing the 23-mile walk in 24 hours and raising £8,352 for Paragon’s nominated charity, Newlife.

A total of 16 Paragon employees from the bank’s Group Finance team undertook the challenge on the weekend of 24 and 25 June, led by Group Financial Controller, Keith Allen.

The National Three Peaks Challenge commenced at Ben Nevis in Scotland, the tallest mountain in the UK at 1345 metres, and continued to Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England at 978 metres. The group finished at Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa, which stands at 1085 metres, the highest mountain in Wales.

Newlife is Paragon Bank’s Charity for the 2022-23 financial year. The charity supports disabled and terminally ill children, providing family support, specialist equipment and financial aid, such as grants and loans.

Keith Allen, Group Finance Controller said: “The National Three Peaks challenge is a fantastic opportunity for Group Finance to raise much-needed funds for our chosen charity. It also promoted cross-team interaction and team building and gave our staff members incentives to get fit…or a knee replacement!

“I’m blown away by the support we’ve received and the amount we raised for Newlife, it’s a testament to how valuable and passionate people at Paragon are. Thank you to the entire team for a fantastic fundraising event.”

Craig Stewart, Head of Corporate & Community Partnerships, Newlife commented: “We can’t thank the Paragon team enough for undertaking the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge to help raise funds for Newlife. Not only has their dedicated training taken time, effort and commitment, but climbing these three peaks is not for the fainthearted, so we really appreciate them taking on this challenge!

“We are so proud that Paragon Bank has chosen Newlife as its Charity of the Year – and for all employees’ hard work in raising funds to help disabled children and their families receive the vital specialist equipment and support they need. Paragon’s generosity will make a huge difference to the lives of many of the families we support.”
