Paragon Bank collaborates with London-based artist Olivia Glasgow  to celebrate Black History Month

Solihull-headquartered Paragon Bank is collaborating with London-based artist, Olivia Glasgow, to celebrate Black History Month.

As part of a series of events and celebrations throughout October, Paragon is displaying Olivia’s work across the entrance of the Bank’s head office on Homer Road.

Black History Month runs nationally throughout October and aims to promote and celebrate Black contributions to British society, as well as fostering an understanding of Black history in general.

Olivia uses acrylics to create geometric portraits with no facial features, which encourages viewers to use their imaginations to relate the art to friends or family.

Olivia Glasgow says: “Every day, being black is important to me. I take pride in myself and my background and, as I get older, I become more conscious of the importance of raising awareness of black history and related issues. I hope that my art is a support to other people in the black community so that they have a reference point to relate to.

“When I was asked to collaborate with Paragon I jumped at the opportunity, as I felt it was great chance for me, as an up-and-coming artist, to showcase my work and educate people through my Afrocentric pieces.”

Andrea Knott, Head of HR Governance at Paragon and Chair of its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Network, says: “We’re really excited that we have been able to join forces with Olivia as part of our Black History Month celebrations.

“Our celebrations throughout this month are just part of a wider series of campaigns and initiatives run by Paragon’s EDI Network. We want our people to feel happy and proud to bring their whole selves to work; our EDI Network aims to change perceptions and breakdown barriers, whilst raising awareness of EDI at work and celebrating diversity.”
