Five mins with…Martin Crossley

Martin Crossley joined Paragon Bank’s Development Finance division as Relationship Director in late 2022. You can read more about his appointment here.

We sat down with Martin to talk to him about his career, what attracted him to Paragon and his thoughts on 2023.

Can you tell us a bit about your career to date?

My career has centred around property. Be that funding residential and international regulated mortgages to commercial investment and development funding. Property is something that interests me and I enjoy seeing schemes go from a concept to completion.

What attracted you to Paragon?

The culture was key, it represented a professional yet extremely personal way of providing development finance to clients. I was very impressed with the colleagues who interviewed me which gave the indication of the management and lending approach the company had. This has only been reinforced since joining the team. I also felt that Paragon was substantial enough to weather market fluctuations, which added a lot of comfort to the decision.

What’s the focus of your role with the company?

I am establishing a portfolio of clients and also working on increasing the market profile of the company through the broker and professional network.

What do you think will be the key property market trends in 2023?

Sustainability will continue to be high on the agenda again and how lenders approach this may well dictate the future of how funding is provided. I also feel that a number of developers who were holding off on schemes or sites may now choose to proceed with these developments as confidence improves.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

I like to keep busy outside of work and fitness is important to me. My interests include the gym, mountain biking, skiing, and spending time with family and friends.
