Where you should be heading with your motorhome this autumn

Just because summer is drawing to an end, it doesn’t mean that your camping days are over. There are numerous locations around the UK which, rain or shine, are perfect for an autumnal get-away with your motorhome.

Where you should be heading with your motorhome this autumn

Here are our five favourites:

Salcombe, Devon

On a sunny autumn morning here, you could mistake the waters of the estuary for the Mediterranean and the beaches are free from the crowds that the summer season brings – making a visit at this time of year even more desirable.

Take a walk along the coastal paths to enjoy spectacular views, ensuring you reward yourself with a hot chocolate at The Ferry Inn afterwards.

Windermere, Cumbria

Watching the early-morning mist rise over Lake Windermere is just one reason to visit this beautiful area. As the trees surrounding the lake turn for autumn, it makes it even more picturesque and a great time to visit.

With children, or without, the Beatrix Potter Museum is a favourite among visitors, particularly on those rainy days. For the more adventurous, take a walk up Orrest Head for sweeping views of the surrounding countryside or brave the waters by visiting one of the many water sports centres around the lake – opt to go without a wetsuit at your own peril!

Broadway, Worcestershire

Far from the lights and crowds of Broadway in the Big Apple, nestled along a stunning Costwold stone high street, there is something for everyone in this picture-postcard village. From long walks and cosy pubs, to boutique shops - Broadway has it all. There is also a fantastic park for any little ones.

The famous ‘Broadway Tower’, the second highest point in the Cotswolds can be reached by foot from the village itself or by car and commands views over 16 counties (there’s also some great cake served at its café).

Glastonbury, Somerset

Although known primarily for Glastonbury Festival, there’s much more to this charming town. If you’re in search of the holy grail, you’ve found the right place, as legend says it could be buried at the Glastonbury Tor, just outside the town.

The town itself is awash with winding streets, housing quirky shops and the esoteric Library of Avalon, with its dragon guarding it – home to over 15,000 books (the only public access esoteric library in the country). There are also plenty of places to stop for a drink and a slice of cake if you fancy.

Aberystwyth, Wales

The ancient market town of Aberystwyth has a sweeping seafront and promenade, with a funicular railway that leads to impressive views.

12 miles outside the town centre, you can visit Devil’s Bridge along the falls trail – three bridges spectacularly stacked on top of each other. Legend has it that the Devil built the bridges for an old lady, in exchange for her soul. Spooky! You can reach it from Aberystwyth using the Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway, which is well worth a ride on for the wonderful scenery.

It's no wonder that motorhomes are a popular option when it comes to exploring the UK and at Paragon, we offer flexible loans to help you achieve that. If you are looking to purchase a motorhome, talk to your dealer or broker about motorhome finance and start planning your next trip.
