Aeros Global LtdAviation finance case study

Helping British businesses

As the UK’s leading modular flight training academy, Aeros always sets its aim high when it comes to providing a wide range of state-of-the-art resources and aircraft for the students it trains.

With an established relationship with the Paragon team, Aeros sought further support to purchase a flight simulator for its Doncaster base, to be used for multi engine training.

Alison Jones, the Head of Aviation at Paragon, had already helped Aeros to finance two Diamond DA42 light aircraft swiftly in the past, so Aeros Global returned to her for her specialist expertise.

Headquartered in Coventry, but with four other centres in, Cardiff, Gloucester, Nottingham and Doncaster, the flight training company works closely with major airlines including Ryanair and Flybe to primarily train students towards gaining a professional pilot’s licence to work for the commercial airlines.

With 100 students being trained over the next two years, Aeros Global’s efforts are helping to fill the current shortage of pilots in the commercial airline industry.

Paragon offered more flexibility than other lenders and had a greater understanding of our business and what we wanted to do

Captain Paul Freestone, Executive Director at Aeros Global, said: “The standard of safety and training we offer is second to none and with a simulator, it means we are no longer weather dependent.

“The technology is so unbelievably realistic of cities, airports and terminal buildings. It even enables instructors to freeze the flight and discuss what is going wrong and create various types of disruption from snow and fog to a runway closure because another airplane has a flat tyre.

“The students love it because they can use it night and day for training and is half the cost of using an aircraft.

“So many people want to train to fly an aircraft so we want to keeping growing over the coming years and Paragon is helping us to do that.”

Aeros Global now has 35 aircraft at its disposal including five multi-engine and three simulators.

Jim Cooper, Finance Director at Aeros Global, added: “Dealing with the team at Paragon made the process simple as I could pick up the phone and talk to them whenever I needed.

"What impressed us was that Paragon offered more flexibility than other lenders and had a greater understanding of our business and what we wanted to do."
